Slope of the line ab is -4/3. Co-ordinates of points a and b are (x, -5) and (-5, 3) respectively. What is the value of x?

Slope of AB = -4/3

=> [3-(-5)]/[-5-x] = -4/3

=> (3+5)[-(5+x)] = -4/3

=> 8×3 = (-4)[-(5+x)]

=> 24= 4(5+x)

=> 24/4 = 5+x

=> 6 = 5+x

=> 6-5 = x

=> x = 1

Therefore,

x = 1
