Answer:

Trial and error method in algebra - keeping numbers starting from 1 at the place of the variable , until we get the correct answer .

2x + 7 = 19

(a) x = 1 , 2x + 7 = 19 = ( 2 × 1 ) + 7 = 9 , hence this is not the value of the variable 'x' .

(b) x = 2 , 2x + 7 = 19 = ( 2 × 2 ) + 7 = 11 , hence this not the value of the variable 'x' .

(c) x = 3 , 2x + 7 = 19 = ( 2 × 3 ) + 7 = 13 , hence this is not the value of the variable 'x' .

(d) x = 4 , 2x + 7 = 19 = ( 2 × 4 ) + 7 = 15 , hence this is not the value of the variable 'x' .

(e) x = 5 , 2x + 7 = 19 = ( 2 × 5 ) + 7 = 17 , hence this is not the value of the variable 'x' .

(f) x = 6 , 2x + 7 = 19 = ( 2 × 6 ) + 7 = 19 = 19 hence the value of the variable x is 6 .

Therefore in 2x + 7 = 19 , x = 6 .
