Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

take 1/x = z

4/x+3y=14

=> 4z+3y=14           ---- eq 1

3/x -4y=23

=> 3z -4y=23          ---- eq 2

multiply eq 1 by 4 and eq 2 by 3

4z+3y=14

16z+12y=56           ---- eq 3

3z -4y=23

9z-12y=69           ---- eq 4

add eq 3 and eq 4

16z+0z+12y-12y=56+69

25z=125

z = 125/25 = 5

put the value of z in eq 1

4z+3y=14

4x5+3y=14

3y=14-20

y= -6/3 = -2

z= 1/x

5=1/x

x= 1/5 and y= -2
