and x-y=1 be equation 2

Therefore,  x+y=5

                   y=5-x

Let y=5-x be 3

Put 3 in 2

x-y=1

x-(5-x)=1

x-5+x=1

2x-5=1

2x=1+5

2x= 6

x=6/2

x=3

Let x=3 be 4

Put 4 in 1

x+y=5

3+y=5

y=5-3

y=2

Therefore x=3 and y=2.
