In Equation 1 -:
- x + 3y =16
- x = 16 - 3y .
By this -: x = 16 - 3y ____________[3]
Substituting x = 16 - 3y in Equation 2 .
- Equation 2 = 2x - y = 4 [ x = 16 - 3y]
- 2( 16 - 3y ) - y = 4
- 32 - 6y - y = 4
- -6y - y = 4 - 32
- -7y = -28
- y = -28 / -7 [ - sign will eliminated]
- y = 28 /7
- y = 4
Therefore,
- y = 4
Substituting y = 4 in [3]
we get ,
- x = 16 - 3(4)
- x = 16 - 12
- x = 4
Therefore,
- x = 4
Hence ,
- The value of x is 4 .
- The value of y is 4 .
