Small essay on criminal should be cured, not punished express your views on this statement

Criminals are people like us only having committed dangerous crimes. I'm not saying that we should let everyone off for free while they ruin others lives but if they've served few years and truly show change in their behavior, they deserve another chance to fit in the normal world. They shouldn't commit crimes repeatedly and affect anybody after free.
Nobody goes around killing people or robbing others for fun, it's mostly due to their unfortunate circumstances or situation. They could've had a troubled childhood or not been taught moral values or ethics while they were young giving them freedom to anything including bad things. Due to poverty many criminals end up stealing to survive though there are alternative ways to make enough money for a decent livelihood. If they are given opportunities to express their talents or discuss their problems they could go for counseling and attempt to change their lifestyle. Criminals, after serving their sentences should be given a chance to redeem themselves. However, they should be looked on and people should monitor their behavior or doings every once in a while just to make sure they're not back to their same typical, dangerous behavior.
