It is longer in herbivores because herbivores eat plants which have cellulose in them and the is cellulose is very hard to digest. It takes a lot of time for it to digest and therefore the long intestines herbivores have.
In carnivores, their source of food comes from herbivores as 'meat': which is easier digest and therefore do not need long intestines.
Hope this answer helped !
