small intestine is very long six metres and coiled because in the small intestine with the help of Villi inside it it makes it make chime into small particles and send into the large intestine

The small intestine is long because digestion, absorption and assimilation is all together a long and difficult process. So a lot of enzymes in different parts of the intestine which helps in digestion of different proteins,carbohydrates etc.
