In horizontal direction: TcosA = m(g/2)

In vertical direction: TsinA = mg

Square on both sides of TsinA and TcosA, then add:

=> (TsinA)² + (TcosA)² = (mg)² + (mg/2)²

=> T²sin²A + T²cos²A = m²g²(1 + 1/2²)

=> T²(sin²A + cos²A) = m²g²(5/4)

=> T² = m²g²(5/4)

=> T = (mg√5)/2
