Smell of burning wool and burning silk is similar because both wool and silk are protein-based, like dog hair, feathers, and human hair. Synthetic fibers are either petroleum or plastic based (and you can certainly smell that when they burn) and plant fibers are cellulose, so they react much like paper and leave a light ash.

No because when wool burns it give smell of burning paper and when silk burns it give smell of  burning hair.
