Answer:

Aathmika this is Anuksha.A from NPS Goplalapuran 7-C

The answer is = 9 :-

Father = 34 + 2

Son = x + 2

So after 2 years father will 4 the time his age

34 + 2 = 4 ( x + 2 )

36 = 4x + 8

-4x = +8 - 36

-4x = -28

both the minus get's cancelled

4x = 28

x = 7

Smith's age = 7 + 2 = 9

Smith’s present age is 9 years  if 34 year old smith's father will be 4 times smith's present age after 2 years.

Given:

  • Smith’s father is 34 years old
  • Two years from now his father’s age will be four times his present age.

To Find:

  • Smith’s present age

Solution:

Assume that Smith’s present age  = x years

Four time Smith' present age = 4x years

Smith’s father Present age = 34 year

Smith’s father age after 2 years = 34 + 2 = 36 years

Equate 36 with 4x

=> 4x = 36

Dividing both sides by 4

=> x = 9

Smith’s present age  = 9 years
