Another alternative can be---

The kitchen was filled by smoke.


Raen: Both are grammaticaly sound structures.
Raen: Actually, 'with' gives a more object-oriented look anyways. By, gives it an unnecessary amount of animation ( in the living sense).

Active Voice refers to a sentence in which the subject is performing the action.

Passive Voice refers to a sentence in which the subject undergoes the action. In other words, it is writing the sentence in reverse order.

Example: She is playing video games. (Active)

               Video games are being played by her. (Passive)

NOTE: Sentences that convey habitual actions cannot be changed to passive mode.
