Snail poison is non biodegradable in nature. As a result, when we move up trophic levels in any food chain, this snail poison gets accumulated progressively and increases in quantity. This is known as biological magnification. It is due to this phenomenon that the owl has more poison than each snail. One of the main causes of biological magnification is that one owl may eat several snails hence it is ingesting more of the poison
