SnCl2 is a solid while SnCl4 is a liquid.why?

as the oxidation state of metal increase it's electronegativity also increase and bonds become increasingly covalent

The SnCl2 molecules due to greater ionic character are closely packed, whereas in SnCl4 molecules show weaker London forces of interaction due covalent nature according to Fajan's Rule.
SnCl2 is observed to form chloride bridges thus forming closely packed crystalline solid. Such chains are not observed in SnCl4.
