Altitude delimits the lower level of permanent snow in the mountain region so that they are called as the Snowline.

The Snowline is variable lowest level on the mountains that is located above snow so that they do not disappear.

Snowline varies with latitude, temperature, humidity, altitude as well as steepness of slope with degree of continentality.

When Snowline of Alps is 2700 metres and the snowline of Greenland is just 600 metres.
