On Killing a Tree
The poet Gieve Patel is trying to convey that a tree cannot be killed only through a heavy blow of knife and chopping the barks.
The poem beautifully expresses that before killing trees, we have to cause injury to them.
The human soul is also difficult to be killed but external vagaries can mutually damage them.
