Explanation:I belong to a small town in Punjab. Me and my brother are 5 years apart. I am a Leo and he is a Scorpio; totally opposite personalities. He is reserved and I am blah and outward :P
We have had our differences. We have had our fist fights. My brother is a software engineer and he graduated at the time of recession; he struggled for almost one and a half years to find a job. That was a testing time for our family. We were not doing well financially; dad had lost a lot of money in Stocks. Most of my parents' earnings were used to pay off my father's debt. Most of the time their entire salary at the end of the month would be used to pay off debt. We even had to sell off our home and move to a rented apartment in a not so good locality. My brother being unemployed was feeling more and more frustrated day by day. Managing daily expenses was a challenge for the family. Our family was falling apart. We had daily quarrels between mom & dad. My brother stopped talking to my dad. Things were so bad that they were considering a divorce and in India, that is as bad as it can get.
Amidst all this, I did my matriculation. I cry today when I remember that time. It was very difficult to focus on studies in such an environment. However, I worked hard and got really good marks. My brother by now had moved to Pune and taken a job where he could take care of his own expenses. He strictly asked mom to send me to Chandigarh for studies since I was intelligent and moving to Chandigarh would be good for my career. My dad was strictly against it since Chandigarh is an expensive city. My brother took a stand and took care of some of my expenses and made sure that I studied at the best institutes in Chandigarh. I am what I am today because of him and my mom. He knew the value of money. Never bought anything expensive for himself throughout his life, but he got me a motorcycle when I was in my 2nd year of graduation.
I am crying while I am writing this. I am 27 years old today and we have drifted apart. We don't see each other that much. But deep down inside brother, I appreciate whatever you have done for me and I can never forget that. Deep down, I still share the same bond with you. May you do well in life and be happy. Know that I would be there for you when you need me.
