SCT- a learning theory

Learning- a relatively permanent change in behavior due to experience.

Core Idea: PEOPLE learn by OBSERVING OTHERS.

Dominant Factors in Learning process:

1. Environment

2. Person involved

Bandura talked about interaction of 3 elements for the observed behavior to be manifested:

a. Personal:
Simply, the confidence , application of the 'Learner' from the observed behavior


b. Behavioral:
Also called Consequence in Behavioral Change Strategies. After the action of learner, the feedback from the environment

c. Environmental:
Aspects of the environment that influence the individual's ability to manifest a behavior observed from the surrounding.

Recently, Penrod stated that learning can happen even when the behavior is not exercised.
