Detergents: they are ammonium or sulphonate .They have long chain of carboxylic acid. They work week in hard water . They can be used for washing Woolen garments

Soaps: they are sodium or potassium of long chain carboxylic acid.they donot work with hardwater.they can be used for clear oil sport from shirt.

Mechanism of soap:when soap is dissolved in water it's hydrophobic endsvattachedto the oil sport . And hence it gets removed from cloth
