Social evil of untouchability was practiced in the Indian society and social reform made by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar about the abolition of untouchability in the constitution under the article 17 which is a social evil is still in practice in the country.

They were humiliated and deprived of their civil rights.

The act was passed to prevent atrocities in 1989 to help Dalits.
