Answer:

During the 19th century India was mostly under the rule of the British.

There were many social evils existing in India. India wasnt a part of the Industrial revolution which was churning the world and changing it at that time. India completely missed the bus

Caste based discrimination - arguably the largest evils of all. Discriminating ppl basis what caste they are born and attributing their birth in a particular caste to their past births. This created a deep rift between the classes and the masses. The lower caste ppl were compelled into downward spiral due to this.

Sati - Downright discrimination against women. Probably a practice carried out to avoid the widowed women from becoming a object of desire of salatious men.

Child marriage - Kids getting married at the age of 3 or 4???? Can u beat that

Ill treatment of widow women - Widows made to shave of their hair and live a life of misery

Girl child killing - A girl child born was actually killed as soon as she was born!!!!

Slavery - Landlords and feudal lords taking up poor men and women and keeping them as free bonded labour
