Social Inequality was the major cause of French Revolution. The French society was divided into three classes- the clergy which formed the first estate, The nobility which formed the second estate and the common people which formed the third estate. The first two estates formed just two percent of french population but controlled more than 90% land and wealth. These two estates exploited the common people in various ways. They do not pay any tax to the king and enjoyed a luxurious life. One the other hand common people formed 98% french population and had only 2% of total land and wealth. They also had to pay a number of taxes and lived a miserable life. So they turned against the king and were directed by bourgeois people like teachers, lawyers and doctors who had wealth and social status but were ranked in third estate by the Monarch. Finally they succeeded in overthrowing the absolute monarchical system and bought the revolution in France.
