Answer:

I don’t know about your situation completely but it can be very frustrating for a child to be scolded by his parents all the time. I and my brother went through the same situation. My mother and father both beat us and scolded us for little things. Often times we were beaten for being children. Even a small mistakes such as dropping a glass of water was met with tight slap, name calling and very insidious remarks. They wanted us to not be children and act like full grown adult when we were only 7–9yr old. This continued since then but we found a few coping mechanism. My brother sort of went into his own world of gaming and studies. He was addicted to gaming and I can understand why. We weren’t allowed to venture out and play with other kids because that would make us look bad in our parents eyes. I also became more introverted and made friends in my fantasies. I remember I fantasized about a girl being my friend and I, talking to her about everything that bothers me and makes me feel bad. I told her about my dreams and future while she shared her pain with me. We grew up to be best of friends. This fantasizing continued for as long as I was in my 12th standard. Too much scolding makes the child doubtful about themselves and they grow feeling like a failure, they feel like they will never be enough. Scolding isn’t some sort of privilege that most of the parents think. It can have horrible effects such as what it did to us. If it is possible for you to talk to your parents regarding this, you should try to and if it’s not working out try to focus on doing things that make you feel good about yourself. Self validate and self soothe. If there is some other caregiver who values you and cares about you, go to them and talk to them about your feelings, I think they often substitute your parents validation and minimize the damage of what neglectful and bad parenting can do. I did a lot of drawings, especially anime characters and participated in sports, the gratification of winning
