Social roles do regulate and organize behavior of people.

EXPLANATION:

  • We as humans have several roles to play, as the people changes in our lives our roles also changes. But, living in a society we are also expected to follow some social behavior and this is called as Norms.
  • Norms are the functions that the society that we live in expect us to perform. For example, in India it is a social norm to get married before the age of 30 for women.
  • And, women who are happily single or does not wants to get married because they are focused on their careers are seen as bad example, and the society starts pressurizing women to get married.
  • It can happen if an older person asks the reasons why one does not wants to get married, and keeps on asking. So, women, in order to avoid these situations becomes more and more tense when they are unmarried and are approaching to their thirties.
  • This tension is the result of social roles. And these social roles creates stereotypes, which women are trying to break all round the world.
