Moderates were the congress leaders who treated the Britishers in moderate ways.Their phase was 1885-1905. The moderates believed in three p's-Prayer,Petition and protest.

The later period was influenced by radicals.Radicals were the leaders who did not believe in moderate ways.They considered British as sugar coated pills.They believed in Hartals,Slogans and protests.
