Sodium acts as a reducing agent while chlorine acts as an oxidising agent in the given reaction- 2Na{s}+ Cl2{g}--------->2NaCl{s}Why?

This can be explain on basis of electron transfer .( Sodium) Na loses electrons and forms Na+ions and this acts as oxidising agent while chlorine gains electronsand forms Cl- ionsand is thus a redusing agent
