◼SODIUM CHLORIDE
Sodium chloride is an ionic compound formed when sodium loses its one electron to chloride.
▶Valency of sodium is +1.To be stable like nearest noble gas neon it losses its one electron to chloride radical ,which is in need of one electron to be stable.

Potassium chloride is an ionic compound formed when sodium loses its one electron to chloride.
▶Valency of potassium is +1.To be stable like nearest noble gas argon it losses its one electron to chloride radical ,which is in need of one electron to be stable.

▶Take sodium chloride and potassium choride in different clean and dry watch glass.
▶Add concentrated hydrochloric acid to both the watch glass.
▶Take a neat and clean platinum loop wire or glass rod, dip it into the solution of salt + conc. HCl and note the colour of flames.
▶Repeat the process two three times.

▶The sodium salt will imparts golden yellow flame.
▶Potassium salt will impart liliac flame.
