Since sodium chloride is an ionic compound and forms ions when turn into molten state therefore conducts electricity through it .On the other hand methane is a non polar covalent compound and does not form ions on dissociation on passage of electric current therefore does not conduct electricity

Ionic compound do not conduct electricity in solid state but they conduct electricity in aqua solution and in molten state.Hence this property is shown by sodium chloride and NACL is electrolyte which conducts electric current in aqueous solution and in molten state.
