Sodium chloride, NaCl, contains 39% Na (sodium) and 61% Cl (chloride) by mass. If you have a 150-g sample of NaCl, how many grams of sodium and chloride are there in the sample?

Explanation: The Answer of this question mainly lies in Ch2 Science of class 9 . You know that concentration of a substance can be obtained by the following formula i.e

Amount of Substance/ Total Amount of solution ×100

And as per the Mathematical aspect we can obtain the amount of substance by the formula

Total Amount of solution/100 × percentage of concentration of the Substance.

So as per the Above formula the answer can be obtained as

Nacl=150g

% of Na=39%

so, Mass of Na= 150/100×39= 1.5×39= 58.5g

% of Chlorine=61%

so, Mass of Chlorine= 150/100×61= 1.5 ×61 = 91.5g
