k = 2
l = 8
m = 1

thus it doesn't completely filled M shell

atomic number of sodium is 11 electrons it contains 2electrons in shell and 8 electrons in L shell and 1 In M shell in the outer most shell the electro static force of attraction decreases and it looses one electron and become positive .in this way they have complete octet.
