If an organic compound contains nitrogen or sulphure,these elements form NaCN and sodium sulphide with sodium metal. So these may interfere, in order to remove sodium cyanide and sodium sulphide, sodium fusion extract is boiled with concentrated HNO₃.


And then AgNO₃ is added,hologen can be recieved as silver halide.
