Dilute HCl ( Hydrochloric acid) reacts with NaHCO3 ( metal bicarbonate or metal hydrogen carbonate) to form the corresponding salt , ( NaCl ) with the evolution of CO2 ( carbon dioxide) and water ( H2O ). HCl + NaHCO3-------> NaCl + H2O + CO2 .
