sodium hydroxide forms a precipitate with lead nitrate but shows no characteristic reaction with potassium nitrate . why ?

Explanation:

Reaction 1:

NaOH [Sodium hydroxide] reacts with Pb(NO3)2 [Lead nitrate] to give NaNO3[Sodium Nitrate] as Sodium is more reactive than lead and hence displaces lead from it's compound.

Reaction 2:

Now NaNO3[Sodium Nitrate] tries to react with KNO3[pottasium nitrate]. But Sodium is not reactive than pottasium. Hence it cannot displace pottasium from it's compound. Therefore, no reaction takes place.
