NaOH is a base and HCl is an acid . An acid and base always react to form a salt and water, and it is called neutralization.The salt formed in this reaction is sodium chloride, NaCl.

The equation for the reaction is :

NaOH + HCl = NaCl + H2O.

Dear Student,

# Balanced chemical eqn -

Sodium hydroxide solution reacts with hydrochloric acid to form sodium chloride solution and water.

NaOH + HCl --> NaCl + H2O

◆ Neutralization -

  • Reaction of an acid and a base to form a salt and water is called neutralisation reaction.

Acid + Base --> Salt + Water

  • Here, cation from base and anion from acid combine to form a salt. OH- from base and H+ from acid combine to form water.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
