Zinc is more reactive than hydrogen. Hence, when zinc will react will dilute hydrochloric acid or dilute suphuric acid, it will replace hydrogen gas from these acids and form the corresponding salt. Following is the chemical equation showing the reaction of zinc metal with dilute HCl
Zn + 2HCl → ZnCl2 + H2
Similarly, the chemical equation the reaction of zinc metal with dilute sulphuric acid is as follows
Zn + H2SO4 → ZnSO4 + H2
