because it is highly reactive and if kept in air or water it burns so it it kept in kerosene oil

We know, that combustion requires oxygen, ignition temperature and fuel. Sodium is a highly reactive metal which has a very low ignition temperature. Therefore, to prevent sodium from catching fire it is kept in kerosene oil to prevent its contact with oxygen.
