Sodium is more reactive than copper. Why? state any 2 Examples to support it.

Explanation:

A reactive metal has the ability to easily lose an electron and acquire a positive charge. Sodium easily loses electrons and acquires a positive charge. Moreover, in the reactivity series the metal at the top is sodium.

Two examples which show highly reactive nature of sodium are as follows.

  • When Na is added to a Cu salt, then Cu gets displaced by Na.
  • A vigorous reaction occurs when sodium is added to cold water whereas nothing happens when Cu is added to cold water.
