Sodium is kept in kerosene. Sodium readily reacts with oxygen so it can’t be kept open air, so it needs to be stored in liquid.

Since sodium reacts both with water and alcohol, it can’t be kept in both of them. It doesn’t react with hydrocarbons so it can be kept safely in kerosene.
