Sodium metal is a metallic solid so the force of attractin is metallic bond.

however, sodium chloride is an ionic solid having ionic bond.

as we know that  ionic bond is stronger than metallic bond so we can say that sodium metal is quite soft whereas the sodium chloride crystals are hard.
