metals like sodium, potassium and lithium are highly reactive metals which react vigorously with air at room temperature . the reaction is very exothermic. itthey can also be not stored in water as they react with water as well..so they are stored underkerosene to prevent the metal as well as any kind of destruction.

Because if they kept open they can burn and if they kept in water they can react with water. So, they are kept in kerosene. Sodium and Potassium are the most reactive metals on this earth. They react very explosively with both water and air that is why they arestored in kerosene instead.
