Sodium reacts with cold water ,whereas iron does not give reasons why

1.As the reaction between metal and cold water is highly exothermic , hence, the hydrogen gas produced in this reaction catches fire and burns causing little explosion. 2. In case of Iron: Iron is very less reactive compared to sodium, hence it cannot react with cold water .
