Soft drinks find themselves in hot waters.First they are condemed as icons of foreign culture, then as multinational company siphons of money, then blamed for obesity and after BVO( brominated vegetable oil) it is pesticides which have made soft drink a hotly debated issue. Influenced by all this, you decide to write an article for your school magazine on 'Blowing hot and Cold over soft drinks'. THIS ARTICLE IS VERY DIFFICULT SO I CANNOT WRITE IT ON MY OWN.

I don't think there is anyone who will say no to a soft drink. At least my friends and all those whom I know have never refused a soft drink which was offered to them. Nor have I ever seen any of them miss the chance to sip one. Any season, any reason is good enough to have a cold drink.

But yesterday I had a revelation, a friend told me something which is difficult to swallow. Dear friends I would like to share the information with you and will be happy if you could help me to judge the dear soft drink correctly.

When we sip the drink the pancreas create insulin to move the sugar from the drink to the bloodstream to give energy. Within 20 minutes the liver turns sugar into fat for storage.

In 45 minutes the caffeine from the drink is fully absorbed. As a result of this the pupils dilate and blood pressure rises. The body produces more dopamine which stimulates the pleasure centers of the brain.

After an hour the body experiences a blood sugar crash and the person takes another soda to suffice. Each additional drink increases the risk of obesity.

Not to talk about the increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems and bad teeth with dissolved tooth enamel.

Wonder how to react next time I see a soft drink !  What about you !
