Actually, this is not true. A software requirement specification, does detail the problem and the solution, but it's not as simple as that. The basic function of of the software requirement specification is to make it clear, exactly what the client is requiring. Each and every component and features needs to be described in order to make sure that the vendor and the client are on the same page and that no issues develop later on. The Client understands from this document, exactly what they will get with their money, while the vendor understands their responsibility
