Soham went to a shop to purchase a shirt. The shopkeeper offered him

three colours of shirts. Soham asked him to show him the shirt which was

on display. The shopkeeper told him that he could not buy that shirt and

would have to choose from the options provided by him. Out of necessity

and lack of time Soham purchased a shirt out of the shirts shown by the

shopkeeper. He paid him cash and didn‟t take the cash memo. Later,

when he wore the shirt at home and was about to leave, he found one

button of the shirt missing. He went to the shop the next day and asked

for replacement. The shopkeeper bluntly denied that the shirt was

purchased from him

Answer:

Soham

Explanation:

a) Consumer right of Soham that is violated in this case is "Right to choose' (as Soham was not given the oppurtunity to chose the shirt, the shopkeeper told him that he could not buy the shirt that was on display)  'Right to be Heard' (as Shopkeeper bluntly denied that the shirt was purchased from him and didnt considered Soham's complaint.)

b) Consumer responsibilities not fullfilled by Soham are 'Responsibilty to Be Aware' (Soham must have checked the quality of the shirt himself before making the purchase), 'Responsibility to think independently' (Soham should have been firm about what he wants and should have made an independent choice')

c) Soham cannot file a complaint without cash memo. As Cash memo is the proof of transaction.
