sohan is playing with a ball. he throws the ball in vertically upward direction with a velocity of 10m/s, find the maximum height reached by ball and time taken by it to attain maximum height. ( acceleration due to gravity= 10m/s square).

Initial velocity of the ball in upward direction (u) = 10 m/s

Final velocity at highest point (v) = 0 m/s

Acceleration due to gravity = - 10 m/s^2

Let the maximum height attained is H.

Now, using the third equation of motion:

v^2 = u^2 + 2 aH

0^2 = 10^2 - 2 \times 10 \times H

H = \frac{100}{20}

H = 5 m

Hence, the maximum height attained by the ball is 5 meters.

Let the time taken be t

v = u + at

t = \frac{10}{10}

t = 1 seconds

for a body thrown vertically upwards the final velocity is 0 and the max height is u square/2g
10square/2×10=5 , height is 5m.
