Before the sowing of seeds, it is necessary to loosen and turn the soil in the fields so as to break it to the size of grains.
This process of loosening soil and turning of soil is called as Ploughing or tilling.
It is done for the following reasons :
1. Loose soil allows the plant to penetrate freely and deeper into soil.
2. The loosening and turning of soil brings the nutrient rich soil to the top so that plants an use it for its growth.
3. Loosening and turning helps in growth of worms and microbes present in soil who are Farmer's friend.
