ANSWER:

Clayey Soil  and Sandy soil

EXPLANATION:

The capacity of a substance to retain water hinges on its surface area and permeability. Since clay is very fine and has a very high surface area/unit of volume it can retain large quantity of water. Moreover, Clay soil has fine, small particles and is very rich in organic matter because of which it can retains the maximum quantity of water.

To hold more water any soil requires fine materials that create minute spaces for water to retain. Clay is finer material and therefore has a greater water-retaining capacity.
