soldier standing between two hills hears two echoes after firing the gun. The first echo was heard after 1.2 s and the second echo after 2.4 secs. Find the distance between the two hills. (speed of the sound in air=340 m/s) *​

Given,

Time 1 (t₁) = 1.2 s

Time 2 (t₂) = 2.4 s

Velocity of Sound (V) = 340 m/s

d₁ = Vt₁/2

= (340*1.2)/2

= 204 m

d₂ = Vt₂/2

= (340*2.4)/2

= 408 m

Total Distance between two hills (D) = d₁+d₂

= 204+408 m

= 612 m or, 0.612 km
