Solid co2 is also known as dry ice. Why?

Solid carbon dioxide is also known as dry ice. Because it looks like ice and because when it “melts” (it actually sublimes) it goes from solid straight to gas, no liquid, hence dry ice.....

Solid co2 looks like dry ice because looks like ice and when it melts (actually sublime) then it directly convert into solid to gaseous not liquid
