solid have a fixed volume and fixed shape. why,?

Solids have fixed shape and volume because solids have tightly packed molecules.

The molecules are tightly packed because of the strong inter molecular force of attraction.

Because of tightly packed molecules solids cannot change their shape and size until and unless an external force is applied on them.
